And the 38-year-old – who played Smithy’s sister, Rudi – would love to reprise her role once more.
‘I’d definitely come back for a series,’ she told the Sun. ‘I’m not in touch with James — he lives in America. If I saw him here, we’d hug.
‘I’ve got a lot of love for him but we don’t see each other.’
Could you just imagine a 2020 rehash of their American Boy rap?
Unfortunately for us all, we might just have to as James revealed there have been zero talks of a potential follow-up.
‘We have no plans to make another, not at the moment,’ the 41-year-old confessed, while chatting to Lorraine from the Oscars red carpet.
‘We’ll have a sit down and think about that at some point but we certainly haven’t had that discussion yet.
‘We’re over the moon that that many people would watch it. It’s a mind-blowing number.’
The Christmas special ended on a whopper of a cliffhanger when Nessa popped the question to Smithy, in a scene which had us all choking on our turkey leftovers.
And we’re not the only ones who are desperate for more.
Joanna Page – who plays Stacey Shipman – is equally keen to explore a full reunion, and teased that the cast would ‘love to do more’ of the show.
‘If I had to put a bet on it I would say yes – but I have no idea if it is coming back,’ she told the publication.
‘I thought we would never do it again, I spent 10 years telling people we were never doing it again, then suddenly we did the special!
‘But when I first read [the script] on my phone and got to the end I thought: “What!! They can’t leave it like that!!”
‘I want to know if Smithy is going to say yes, so they’ve got to do one.’
We totally agree.
