Jennifer Aniston in Friends

Friends star Jane Sibbett has claimed she was originally cast as Rachel.

The actress, who played Ross Geller’s ex-wife Carol in the hit sitcom, revealed that producers had actually lined her up to star as Jennifer Aniston’s character.

Yep, our minds are also blown.

‘I actually was up for another character,’ Jane spilled. ‘They wanted me to be one of the main six.

‘It was actually Rachel but I usually don’t tell people that because Jen… There’s no one who could’ve done it like Jen.’

Asked why she turned down the role, Jane revealed she was pregnant.

‘I asked them [her agents] if they’d told the producers I was pregnant [at the time] and they said, “Oh no, we thought we’d tell them later.” And I said, “No you’ve got to tell them now.”

‘So obviously [the producers] said it wouldn’t work out.’

Jane added to News.com.au: ‘I have no regrets, my goodness, there’s no way anybody could have come close to what Jennifer Aniston did with Rachel. She was so perfect.’

Friends' Carol and Susan

Jane played Carol in 15 Friends episodes, alongside Jessica Hecht, who played Carol’s girlfriend Susan.

Carol and Susan eventually married, with their nuptials being the focal point in season two’s The One With The Lesbian Wedding.

Friends kicked off in 1994 and aired for 10 seasons until 2004.

A reunion special is currently in the works at HBO Max with Jennifer, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry.

The episode was originally meant to be filmed earlier this year, however, it was put on ice thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.

Friends is available to stream on Netflix.
